Zheng Li joined the Synapse Research Institute in September 2024 as a PhD student jointly affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry at Maastricht University. His research focuses on the immunothrombotic mechanisms of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), with particular interest in how anti-prothrombin antibodies contribute to platelet activation and coagulation disturbances. Through integrating platelet function assays, prothrombin conversion experiments, and molecular analyses, he aims to elucidate novel pathways underlying antibody-mediated thrombosis.
Zheng Li obtained his Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Peking Union Medical College (Tsinghua University Faculty of Medicine), where his thesis research investigated the role of the tumor microenvironment in leukemia. Before joining Synapse, he worked for seven years at Chongqing Cancer Hospital, focusing on next-generation sequencing and molecular diagnostics in oncology. In 2024, he was awarded a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to pursue his PhD research at Maastricht University and the Synapse Research Institute.
