Yunpeng Xue has a joint PhD position at the Synapse Research Institute and the Department of Biochemistry at Maastricht University. His research interests include thrombosis and haemostasis. His research focuses on the interaction between von Willebrand Factor (VWF) and its regulator ADAMTS13, with the goal of searching novel strategies to treat thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).
Prior to joining Synapse, he was a Senior R&D Engineer at Fosun Diagnostics (2021-2023), specializing in the design, development, and registration of diagnostic kits for diseases such as COVID-19, HIV, and cardiovascular biomarks. Earlier, he worked as an R&D Engineer at Jetmay Care Biotechnology (2018-2021), where he focused on diagnostic kit development and product manufacturing. He earned his Master’s degree in Marine Biology from Shantou University (China), where his thesis research involved identifying a key gene responsible for carotenoids accumulation in the scallop.
